Division 3 Football league 2013-02-14 12:49:00

The Clyda Div 3 league team got their first taste of action on Friday 8th Feb against Ballyclough under lights. Despite playing some nice football in the early stages, scores were difficult to come by and the team went in at half time trailing their opponents. However the second half saw a spirited come back. Some nice passing movements were rewarded by scores from retuned exile Christy Roche who showed no sign of being away from the game. With Tadhg O'Connor and Kevin Roche chipping in and a brace from substitute Stephen Murphy momentum was very much with Clyda. With time running out and the team pushing hard for a goal veteran Noel Walsh played an inch perfact pass to Tomas Harold who was brought down on the edge of the edge of the square. Christy Roche stepped up and smashed the resulting penalty to the back of the net. Christy reported afterwards that he didn't realise the new rules placed the spot quite so near the goalkeeper. However before Clyda could add to the score time ran out and they went down on a scoreline of 1-06 to 0-11.

The team lined out as follows:

1. Timmy Murphy, 2. Donal Carey, 3. Cathal Green, 4. Neilus Harold, 5. Diarmuid Ronayne, 6. Robert Walsh, 7. Donal Stack, 8. William Cronin, 9. Billy Dillon, 10. David Madden, Billy Mulcahy, 12. Diarmuid O'Shea, 13. Christy Roche, 14. Conor O' Donoghue, 15. Tadhg O'Connor.

Subs used: Pa Forde, Kevin Roche, Stephen Murphy, Noel Walsh, Tomas Harold.
