Division 2 football league match report 2013-04-17 09:15:00

The Clyda Div 2 footballers played Grange in a very entertaining game in grange in Friday April 12th. Aiming to build on a good run of results the team worked hard to create chances right from the throw in. Some good early play was rewarded with points from midfielder Roy Willis and centre forward Colin Ronayne. Both teams played some nice football throughout the first half with Grange enjoying a one point advantage at the break. We were slower out of the gate after half time and allowed Grange to go 5 clear. But it's hard to keep a good man down and before long we were back the grove. Driven on by a strong performance from the half-back line of Sean O'Connell, Maurice O'Brien and Chris O'Connell, Clyda were soon back on level terms. However the concession of a goal ensured a tight finish. The clock was deep in injury time when Clyda funnelled everyone forward for one last push which earned a Clyda a penalty in the dying seconds of the game. Roy Willis stepped to cap a great performance by smashing the ball home to earn Clyda share of the points. The final score was 1-10 apiece.

The team lined out as follows:

Conor O'Donoghue, Sean O'Connor, Robert Walsh, Cathal Greene, Sean O'Connell, Maurice O'Brien, Chris O'Connell, Roy Willis, Kyle Crowley, Conor Crowley, Colin Ronayne, Diarmuid Ronayne, Declan Roche, Christy Roche, Seamus Ronayne.

Subs used: David Madden, Darragh Walsh, Tadhg O'Connor.
