Under 16 Hurling 2013-04-25 08:59:00

Playing at their home venue, Clyda U16 hurlers continued their great start to the year with a hard-fought win against Grenagh last Monday night. Games between Grenagh and Clyda are relatively rare but are always passionate encounters as the teams strive that little bit harder for bragging rights over their neighbours. So it was on this occasion as the two sides served up a thrilling encounter. Clyda played with the strong wind in the first half and despite playing well couldn't shake off a dogged Grenagh side.

Through the early part of the second half Clyda continued to hold the edge despite facing into the wind. Then, as the game entered the final 10 minutes Grenagh struck a goal to take a one point lead. Clyda showed no sign of panic but responded by upping their game and taking firm control of the match reeling off a succession of scores to clinch the game with a five point winning margin on a final score of Clyda 2-13 Grenagh 2-08.
