Premier Intermediate football Championship 2013-05-10 08:47:00

Clyda opened their Premier Intermediate football season with a game against Castletownbere in Kilmichael on Sunday afternoon. Clyda defended well against a strong breeze in the first half leading 6 points to two points at the short whistle. Clydas first point came after a Paudie Kissane free hit the post was picked up by Conor O Sullivan , who put it over the bar. Castletownbere levelled proceedings after fifteen minutes, before scoring a second point, giving them a one point advantage. This was to be the only time they led, as Clyda dominated in all quarters after this. Further first half scores came from three Paudie Kissane pointed frees and a point from Fionn O Shea. Clyda had another score on the board a couple of minutes into the second half when Paudie Kissane put over a point and shortly afterwards he added a goal to his tally after a well worked ball starting with an interception by Kenneth Fitzgerald in defence worked its way down the field, where a great pass from Chris Buckley to Paudie ended up in the back of the net. From there on Clyda were in cruise control and two further points from Gavin Carey and Conor Flanagan saw Clyda run out comprehensive winners on a score line of 1-9 to 0-3.
