PREMIER JUNIOR A HURLING CHAMPIONSHIP:

 

Clyda Rovers played Ballyhooley on Sunday afternoon in the second round if the Premier Junior A Hurling Championship. The first half was a very close affair with both sides trading scores. Clyda opened the scoring with a pointed free from Chris Buckley, followed by two points from Niall O Mullane , leaving the score three points to no score. Ballyhooley opened their account with a free, followed by a Clyda point from an Ollie O Hanlon free. Ballyhooley then added three points to their tally, one from a 65 to level the game, before Clyda's Chris Buckley put over a point leaving one between the sides. The last two scores of the first half came from Ballyhooley, one from a free, leaving the bare minimum between the sides, Ballyhooley leading 0-6 to 0-5. Clyda's Chris Buckley levelled proceedings at the start of the second half with a free. Ballyhooley lost a player to injury at the start of the second half, and play was stopped for many minutes. Ballyhooley got the next score taking them up one again before the on form Niall O Mullane levelled it . Clyda then hit a purple patch putting over six unanswered points, one each from Sean O Connor, Niall O Mullane and substitute Declan Roche, and three from Chris Buckley, two of which came from frees. Ballyhooley were not finished though and they blasted a goal into the back of the net followed by two points leaving just one between the sides 0-13 to 1-9. Clyda's Chris Buckley then pointed a free putting two between the sides again, before two pointed Ballyhooley frees levelled the game once more. It was Clyda's Chris Buckley to the rescue once more, adding another point to his tally , giving Clyda a one point advantage once more, which they hung onto running out winners on a final score line of 0-15 to 1-11.
