Premier Intermediate Football Championship 2013-10-01 11:42:00

Clyda Rovers Premier Intermediate footballers booked a place in the county final against Macroom after a well deserved victory over Nemo Rangers at Cloughduv last Friday evening. It was a low scoring game, the final score was 9 points to 4 points. Defensively Clyda were very strong, with the forwards putting over some fine points, always looking in control of the game. The opening scores for both sides came from pointed frees, Clyda's James Murphy putting over his first of the night. There then followed two well worked points from Padraic O Mullane and Oliver O Hanlon, before Nemo made it 3 points to 2. Following a fine pass from Cian O Sullivan , Clydas Conor O Sullivan slotted over the next score, followed by two James Murphy points, one from a free. Nemo added one further point , leaving it 6 points to 3 points at the short whistle. The second half continued as the first, with Nemo only adding one more point to their tally. Clyda drove on and with points from James Murphy (free), and one each from Conor Flanagan and Conor O Sullivan , closed out the game. Having suffered heartache in recent years, the hopes and wishes are with Ned and his team to do the business this time!
